The Morritt is a much loved wedding venue in the North East, we were the very first venue in County Durham to offer civil ceremonies and we have a wealth of experience in combining ceremony and celebration.

Located in the pretty hamlet of Greta Bridge, The Morritt is a stunning traditional country house venue, surrounded by open countryside, with pretty gardens; it is the most romantic setting for your special day.

Wedding ROOMS

The Morritt has a variety of rooms to choose from depending on your numbers, intimate private dining for weddings of 10 or lovely spaces for up to 200. Whether you are looking for a venue for a Civil Ceremony, wedding celebration or the full shebang you will find options at The Morritt.

The, oh so romantic Garden Room can seat 100 for a ceremony or 60 for a wedding breakfast. Our elegant Ball Room seats up to 200 and can host 300 for an evening reception and has it’s own self contained bar for your guests to enjoy.

All of our spaces can be personalised by you on your special day. Guests can also book accommodation in our comfortable rooms.

The talented Chef’s from our award winning Gilroy’s Dining Room have created a range of delicious wedding menus to suit every occasion. As well as your wedding breakfast we offer canapés with drinks, evening buffets or late night suppers.
